In September 2011, we opened our ASD room. This room caters for the needs of students with ASD. Research shows that children with ASD progress better in a structured mainstream learning setting. A variety of best-practice methods are employed to meet the varied needs of the students.
Clarin College places emphasis on developing each student to their full potential, mindful of the need to assist them in developing their communication, social, behavioural and general life skills. ASD students have access to the curriculum and an effective programme is tailor-made for each student.
Inclusion with mainstream peers and activities is senitively managed and consideration is given to each student's readiness to engage in an inclusive manner with the mainstream programmes.
We promote and facilitate close liaison with parents and so that the home and educational environments can compliment and reinforce learning.
