Gairmscoil Mhuire held their Positive mental health awareness week on Monday 12th of October. Cllr Pete Roache, Lord Mayor of Galway who is also an Ambassador for “Console” launched the event at our coffee morning to help raise funds for developing mental fitness.
The Guidance Dept planned workshops were planned for the school year however to mark the event, representatives joined us from Jigsaw, Mental Health Ireland, Aware, LGBT, and An Gárda Síochána to educate our students on issues affecting their lives today.
A Funky shoe and sock day was held on Thursday as a fun way to help raise funds. Leaving Cert Applied helped in co-ordinating this event and prizes were given for the top entrants.
In the New Year, we hope to develop the area further with the inclusion of a parents evening.
