The school is being presented with the Heartsafe School Award on the 19th of October. This award is in acknowledgment of the CPR and AED training received by students and staff in the school by Athenry First Responders. It was initiated by Megan Brogan (student council). It is certified by the Irish Heart Foundation. It is recognition of the work completed by the school for healthy hearts and healthy lifestyles and the training of our staff and students in strengthening the Chain of Survival in our community. We're very proud that the majority of our students and staff are trained in life saving CPR and AED application. We feel that this is a very important initiative and it is our intention to continue providing this training to staff and students as part of our curriculum.
